Job Title: Animal Shelter Volunteer Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Animal Shelter Volunteer Coordinator to join our team at the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter.

Job Description:

The Animal Shelter Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling volunteers at the shelter and events. This position will also oversee the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of all volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and train new volunteers and serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteer communications.
  • Participate in volunteer recruitment events and engage with the community to promote the volunteer program.
  • Provide guidance to volunteers during their shifts and pair them with appropriate staff for training.
  • Manage volunteer management software, schedule shifts, and communicate with volunteers.
  • Track volunteer hours and generate monthly and yearly reports.
  • Work with managers to evaluate volunteer staffing needs and set up schedules accordingly.
  • Schedule volunteers for events and connect regularly with volunteers to build a positive culture.

Requirements:

  • A high school education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in leading teams or clubs is beneficial.
  • Candidates should possess a positive, professional attitude and be self-motivated.
