Salary Range:
The established salary scales determine the minimum compensation based on appointment type and applicable rank and/or step. The base salary for this role is set between $139,500 and $213,500, with annual negotiations for salary adjustments. Additional compensation may be available if the role includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Position Description
The Division of Rheumatology, Autoimmunity, and Inflammation within the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and diversity among faculty, staff, and students. We are actively seeking exceptional faculty members for tenured positions.
The Department of Medicine and the Division of Rheumatology, Autoimmunity, & Inflammation are looking for candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence through leadership in teaching, research, or service, aimed at creating an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
The successful candidates will have the unique opportunity to advance clinical and translational research in arthritis and inflammatory processes within a prestigious university and renowned health system. Responsibilities will include providing leadership, teaching, research, and/or patient care.
The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The series will include options for 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.
As a participant in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, candidates should be aware of limitations on outside professional activities, with clinical moonlighting expressly prohibited.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required at Time of Application):
Candidates must possess an MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD with a focus relevant to Rheumatology, Autoimmunity, and Inflammation.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in clinical, translational, and/or basic research.
Additionally, candidates must have an independent, extramurally-funded research program (NIH R01 or similar) and a record of research in high-impact journals, including at least one grant and/or publication in rheumatic diseases.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent who have clinical responsibilities must be Board certified or Board eligible in Internal Medicine and must hold or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with national recognition in research are preferred.
