Job Summary and Qualifications
Cath lab technicians are specialized cardiovascular technologists who operate within our facilities, conducting assessments on heart health. They assist in catheter insertion into the heart and are responsible for measuring and administering specific fluids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Supervisor and the CV Services Director, the Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist collaborates with physicians and nursing staff to assist with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiology procedures in the catheterization labs.
- Demonstrates expertise in radiographic imaging principles, patient physiological monitoring, and cardiac arrhythmia recognition.
- Adheres to sterile technique principles.
- Collects and organizes data for database management, outcome analysis, and performance enhancement.
- Responsible for executing additional tasks assigned by the Cath Lab Supervisor or CV Services Director to ensure the department operates effectively and efficiently.
On-Call Responsibilities:
- The Cath Lab Technician is required to participate in the on-call rotation and must respond within 30 minutes to the Cath Lab when on call.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program or Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program preferred.
- Two years of current experience in a Cath lab may substitute for completion of the Radiology Technologist program or Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program.
- Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of the start date and must be maintained.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of the start date.
- Active RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RT licensure preferred.
- If a new Invasive CVT graduate, must obtain credential within 1 year of eligibility.
- One year of experience in a Cath lab or equivalent clinical experience as part of the educational program.
- OJT with current 10 years or more of experience may substitute for completion of the Radiology Technologist program, Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program, and RCIS.
