We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy construction and earth moving equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, and bulldozers.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment on and off-road, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and trench diggers.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Demonstrate adaptability and resourcefulness in the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain a daily work log and check equipment daily to ensure efficient and safe operational status.
- Operate vehicles and equipment under adverse weather conditions.
- Schedule work to be performed and monitor progress.
- Implement safety and security policies, procedures, and instructions for field/project operations.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of general construction experience, including the operation of various types of heavy construction earth moving equipment.
- Certification from a vocational trades training facility or completed apprenticeship through a recognized union program.
- Previous experience working on large soil projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment and tools operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Valid Commercial Operators License.
- Ability to work in extreme temperature and humidity.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work around low-level radioactive materials.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements of the fingers, hands, wrists, and arms.
- Ability to participate in physically demanding work while wearing personnel protective equipment.
