Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled School Social Worker to join our team at SER Metro-Detroit. As a key member of our Youth Services department, you will provide critical support to students, families, and staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct counseling services to children, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
  2. Collaborate with the clinical team to develop and implement treatment plans and Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs).
  3. Conduct assessments and provide staff training to enhance their understanding of factors affecting student performance and behavior.
  4. Develop and implement positive behavioral intervention strategies to promote student success.
  5. Assess students with mental health concerns and provide guidance to parents and staff.
  6. Design and deliver staff in-service training programs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  7. Work closely with parents to facilitate their support in their children's school adjustment.
  8. Assist teachers with behavior management and provide direct support to staff.

Requirements:

  • Active license/certification as a social worker for the state of Michigan (LMSW and/or LCSW).
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a school-based setting.
  • Experience with RTI/MTSS and other intervention plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with children of different ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact with students, parents, and staff in a positive and productive manner.
  • Experience working in an urban setting and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • FBI fingerprinting and a satisfactory criminal background check.

Working Environment:

This role operates in a normal school environment with a moderate noise level. The employee will be required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate office equipment.
