Key Responsibilities- Assist in the care of patients in clinic and procedural areas, working under the direct supervision of a provider.
- Schedule Dry Eye patients for clinic appointments and procedures, ensuring seamless coordination and communication.
- Perform documentation, patient education, and enter charges, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Orient, train, and educate students, staff, and residents, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Act as a staff resource and mentor, providing guidance and support to colleagues.
- Assist with prescription refill process under the direction of a provider, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Ensure proper care and usage of medical instruments in clinical areas, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
- Review clinical schedules for assignments and coverage, reporting any discrepancies to the clinical coordinator and/or clinical supervisor.
- Perform clinical assignments and additional duties delegated by clinical supervisors, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Serve as a liaison between the Dry Eye clinic, other divisions within Ophthalmology, satellite clinics, other departments within UCHealth, and outside referring physicians, ensuring efficient patient care and communication.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies, dry eye diagnostic testing, assisting in minor procedures, and knowledge of point-of-care testing requirements.
- Assist with the flow of patient care in clinical areas, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for patients and staff.
- Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED, with completion of UCHealth preceptor course.
- Required Licensure/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- Minimum Experience: 3 years sponsored on-the-job ophthalmic training or ophthalmic internship.
- Experience: 3+ years working with a Dry Eye specialist, assisting in IPL treatments, and performing Lipiview and Tearlab testing.
