Position Overview

The Operational Technology Engineer within the Critical National Infrastructure division plays a pivotal role in supporting the Transmission and Distribution sectors. Reporting directly to the Senior IT Supervisor for SCADA, this position requires a deep understanding of Operational Technology coupled with substantial hands-on experience in managing various cybersecurity tools and platforms.

Key Responsibilities


• Engage in the complete technology lifecycle, including the design, configuration, development, documentation, and testing of Operational Technology solutions tailored to meet business and technology requirements, focusing on application reliability and cybersecurity fortification.


• Assess current technology solutions to ensure they align with new business or technology demands.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guarantee seamless integration of new technology solutions with existing systems.


• Analyze user needs and translate them into actionable technology solution capabilities and designs.


• Oversee the operation of cybersecurity solutions such as Industrial Defender, Dragos, CyberArk, and CA/PKI to maintain secure environments within the Critical National Infrastructure.


• Implement security measures, policies, and procedures in alignment with organizational cybersecurity protocols.


• Provide support for all Transmission Operations platforms (SCADA EMS) and Distribution Operations platforms (DSCADA), along with associated applications like data historians, APIs, and web-based interfaces.


• Maintain and manage critical infrastructure in data centers and remote control centers, including network devices and services such as routers, switches, firewalls, and servers, along with equipment maintenance and installations.


• Conduct network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, and security configurations.


• Deliver internal customer support and troubleshooting for Transmission and Distribution teams, coordinating with product vendors and IT personnel for issue resolution.


• Adhere to established configuration and change management policies to ensure proper awareness and approval of environmental changes.


• Participate in project teams for future applications, infrastructure enhancements, and new technology deployments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.


• Engage in 24x7 rotational on-call support for Critical National Infrastructure systems.

Qualifications


Required:


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technology field, with 4 years of experience in IT/Operational Technology, or an advanced degree with equivalent experience in IT/Cybersecurity.


• Proficiency in network security and information security principles and technologies.


• Understanding of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN connectivity.


• Proven knowledge of IT principles, including infrastructure support, system administration, and application development techniques.


• Strong troubleshooting skills, utilizing critical thinking and sound judgment in a dynamic technology environment.


Desired:


• Experience with mission-critical technology solutions.


• Familiarity with VMWare or similar virtualization solutions.


• Knowledge of monitoring, network diagnostics, and analytics tools.


• Understanding of scripting and programming methodologies.


• Relevant Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP Security, CyberOps Associate, CCNP Datacenter, CCNP Routing and Switching, CISSP).


• Experience in documenting technical solutions and business processes using methods such as engineering drawings and UML.


• Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment in a fast-paced technology environment.
