Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Act as the primary Project Manager on Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) contracts, necessitating collaboration with subconsultants and clients.
  • Team Leadership: Direct and oversee engineers, inspection personnel, and administrative staff assigned to projects, ensuring seamless coordination and high-quality outcomes.
  • Problem Resolution: Address project-related issues and provide effective solutions and recommendations to clients.
  • Decision Analysis: Assess and evaluate project decisions to ensure they are objective, well-designed, and aligned with schedule, budget, and client requirements.
  • Business Development: Lead efforts to secure CEI contracts and serve as the Technical Lead on proposal submissions.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with transportation agencies, including TxDOT, to support CEI initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Foster relationships and develop teaming strategies with other DOT-focused professionals within the organization.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed about current and upcoming regulations and technological advancements relevant to the industry.
  • Contract Administration: Participate in the management, interpretation, and execution of contracts.
  • Financial Goals: Establish and achieve revenue and profit objectives for your segment of the business plan.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer license in Texas.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to TxDOT construction projects.
  • Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge and experience with TxDOT CEI processes and procurement practices.
  • Constructability Reviews: Proficient in conducting constructability assessments.
  • Skills: Proven ability to make independent decisions regarding engineering challenges and methodologies.
  • Standards Familiarity: Knowledgeable in TxDOT Specifications and Standards.
  • Leadership Capability: Ability to effectively lead and manage diverse teams on complex projects.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly in documents, emails, and reports, as well as in meetings and presentations.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to work in a construction environment, including navigating uneven surfaces and outdoor conditions.
