Role Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist, under the supervision of management, is tasked with delivering clinical guidance and training related to patient care and respiratory matters within the facility.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Must possess a CRT or RRT license and be a graduate of an AMA accredited respiratory care program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ventilator certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Preferred one year of experience in respiratory therapy within a long-term care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver respiratory services in accordance with established protocols, which may include patient assessments and data collection.
  • Document all relevant information in respiratory care records and patient charts, including consultations and communications with healthcare professionals.
  • Assist the facility in compliance matters, ensuring proper storage and documentation of respiratory equipment and supplies.
  • Manage routine administrative tasks, including communication and documentation.
  • Collaborate with facility staff on clinical and operational matters related to patient care.
  • Evaluate patients' respiratory needs, including oxygen saturation and ventilator assessments.
  • Conduct timely treatments and ventilator checks, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
  • Complete monthly treatment records ensuring accuracy.
  • Assess patients for decannulation and weaning processes.
  • Engage in various special projects as needed.
  • Resolve routine issues and communicate solutions to relevant personnel.

  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and all organizational levels.
  • Capacity to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
