We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Probation Officer II to join our team at Contra Costa County Probation Department. As a Deputy Probation Officer II, you will be responsible for conducting investigations, supervising clients, and providing counseling services to individuals on probation. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations of adults and juveniles, including interviewing clients, families, victims, witnesses, and other relevant parties.
  • Supervise clients on probation, ensuring they meet the conditions of their probation and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Provide counseling services to clients, including individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive services to clients.
  • Prepare and present reports to the court, including pre-sentence and dispositional reports.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, such as criminology, corrections, social work, or psychology.
  • At least one year of full-time experience in a related field, such as probation, parole, or corrections.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with emotionally traumatized individuals.
  • Experience teaching and speaking in a group setting.
  • Experience applying cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques for modifying behavior through individual/group counseling.
