Registered Nurse Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory/Recovery Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory/Recovery Unit at the Veterans Health Administration. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory and recovery unit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures, including pre-procedure preparation, procedural care, and post-procedure recovery.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental status prior to procedures, and educate patients on procedural and post-procedure care.
- Document patient responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes in patient status.
- Maintain proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of cardiology-specific equipment.
- Participate in activities and strategies to sustain and improve an evidence-based practice culture.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Experience with diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, temporary pacemaker insertion, and intra-aortic balloon pump therapy is preferred.
This position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer competitive status. The selected candidate will be required to serve a probationary period. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). It is a requirement that all HCP receive annual seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption for medical or religious reasons. Wearing a face mask is required when an exemption to the influenza vaccination has been granted.
