Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Systems Design Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

This position has been posted at multiple levels, depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform project and test engineering functions for EVA spacesuit design, development, procurement, manufacture, test, and certification.
  • Develop essential documentation for assigned tests, including test plans, hazard analyses, test procedures, and Test Readiness Review documentation.
  • Design tests and test rigs, identifying instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Coordinate test activities and requirements with NASA test facilities.
  • Setup and execute tests, preparing summary reports documenting test results.
  • Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within spacesuit hardware, development test articles, or test support hardware.
  • Select and apply engineering techniques to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a project engineer or test engineer.
  • Experience with NASA test processes.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical hardware elements and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with oxygen systems or life support systems or LabView programming.

Salary

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $120,000 - $180,000, depending on the level of experience and qualifications.
