About this Role

The Engineering Director will be instrumental in managing the engineering components of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. You will lead a skilled team of engineers, offering strategic direction, technical expertise, and oversight to guarantee the successful implementation of BESS initiatives. This position requires significant engineering experience, with a minimum of two years specifically in the BESS domain. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong leadership background in engineering, possess in-depth knowledge of the BESS sector, and have a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that align with client expectations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Development:
• Oversee and mentor the engineering team, providing support and guidance.
• Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within engineering teams, encouraging continuous learning.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and project management, to ensure engineering efforts align with corporate goals.
• Enhance engineering processes and methodologies by integrating new technologies and best practices.

Project Oversight:
• Formulate and execute strategic plans to meet engineering department objectives in line with Quanta's overall strategy.
• Supervise the design, development, and execution of BESS projects.
• Ensure timely project delivery within budget constraints while meeting technical and quality benchmarks.
• Work in tandem with project managers to facilitate seamless project execution.

Technical Leadership and Innovation:
• Provide expert guidance in the development of BESS solutions.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in BESS and renewable energy.
• Drive advancements in engineering processes and tools to improve project outcomes.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to industry codes, standards, and regulations in all engineering practices.
• Oversee the validation of engineering designs, calculations, and specifications to guarantee quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct regular audits to uphold the highest quality and safety standards.

Resource Management:
• Manage the distribution and utilization of engineering resources, including personnel and technology.
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners and consultants to support engineering functions.

Reporting and Documentation:
• Prepare and present comprehensive technical reports and project updates to senior management.
• Maintain thorough documentation of engineering processes and project records.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is mandatory.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience, with a proven record of leading teams and managing projects.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget.

Skills:
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
