Materials Operations Supervisor

Position Summary
The Materials Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the activities of personnel involved in the procurement, receipt, storage, inventory management, and distribution of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and components within the stockroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the layout of the stockroom, taking into account factors such as turnover rates, dimensions, weight, and other relevant characteristics of stored items.
- Guide team members on the proper handling and preservation of received and stored items, as well as the effective use of equipment for storage and maintenance.
- Compile reports on non-usable, slow-moving, and surplus inventory.
- Organize work schedules for special and routine inventory counts.
- Investigate discrepancies between inventory records and actual stock, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
- Establish work procedures, create schedules, and streamline workflow.
- Provide both written and verbal instructions to team members.
- Delegate tasks and evaluate work for accuracy, organization, and adherence to company policies.
- Analyze and standardize processes to enhance the efficiency of team operations.
- Address errors and resolve complaints effectively.
- Supervise the appropriate disposal of recyclable materials within the stockroom.
Supervisory Duties
- Directly manage a team of 4-6 associates within the Materials department, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and legal regulations.
- Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and overseeing work; evaluating performance; and addressing employee concerns.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution.
- Alternatively, four to five years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Or a combination of education and experience that meets the requirements.
