Job Summary:

SKLD West Bloomfield is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service to our residents and staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the dietary department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of meals and beverages, ensuring high-quality nutritional services are provided.
  • Participate in the food tray line, preparing trays according to diet cards in an efficient manner to meet scheduled meal and snack times.
  • Assist with loading food carts and serving meals to residents and staff.
  • Bag and store food items as directed, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Inspect and clean silverware, ensuring it is free from any debris or contaminants.
  • Bus and clean tables after mealtime, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Scrape, wash, and rack unclean dishes and utensils, adhering to established sanitation procedures.
  • Assist in the operation of the dishwashing machine, ensuring it is properly maintained and functioning correctly.
  • Sort and stack clean dishes, inspecting for cleanliness and organization.
  • Place clean dishes, utensils, and cutlery in their proper storage place, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Participate in table setup, including tablecloth, silverware, dishware, and filling cups with water.
  • Discard waste/trash into proper containers, adhering to established sanitation procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure the work area is clean and free of hazardous conditions, such as spills, excess carts, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Report all equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to the supervisor, keeping them informed of supply needs.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and in-services as directed or scheduled, staying up-to-date on company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow Infection Control guidelines, maintaining personal hygiene and adhering to OSHA standards in the workplace.
  • Protect and promote resident rights, treating residents with dignity and respect, and avoiding the need for physical restraints.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred.
  • One year of experience as a Dietary Aide preferred.

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

  • Able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions, including some calculations.
  • Basic knowledge of attractive food service, sanitation, and safety.
