Key Responsibilities

- Foster a welcoming, professional, and trustworthy atmosphere for all team members, customers, and pets.
- Manage phone inquiries and schedule obedience classes, remaining accessible in-store to discuss our training programs.
- Guide obedience clients in selecting necessary products for training classes and at-home reinforcement.
- Adhere to the training protocols as outlined in the provided obedience training materials.
- Train clients and their dogs with patience, consistency, and an understanding of their individual needs.
- Respect the specific training preferences of clients.
- Utilize calming techniques to maintain control over dogs during training sessions.
- Promptly report any incidents or injuries to the Store Manager.
- Complete all required training documentation accurately.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in training areas.
- Team members are expected to perform a variety of tasks throughout their shifts, including:
a. Operate the cash register and adhere to cash handling procedures
b. Organize merchandise
c. Participate in freight processing
d. Execute merchandising plans
e. Assemble products
f. Maintain cleanliness
g. Implement price adjustments
h. Assist customers with their purchases
i. Ensure the welfare of live animals and maintain their habitats
j. Complete all necessary documentation related to these duties
- Team members may also be assigned additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required.
High School Diploma preferred.
Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of pets, pet food, and related products is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on ethical issue resolution.
- Compassionate treatment of animals.
- Attention to detail.
Working Environment
- Generally indoors with moderate noise levels.
- Hard surface flooring and adequate lighting and temperature.
- Exposure to grooming tools, pet products, and waste.
- Shifts typically last between 4 to 8 hours.
- Commitment to a safe and productive work environment for all.
Physical Requirements
- This is a physically active position.
- Ability to move quickly and safely throughout the store and outdoor areas.
- Competence in reading, writing, and counting for documentation purposes.
- Proficiency in operating equipment relevant to job duties.
- Capability to lift and transfer items weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while grooming.
- Frequent movement around the facility for various tasks.
- Skill in using grooming tools effectively.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and squat as necessary.
- Proficient use of store equipment, including computers and cash registers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Successful completion of all required training.
