  • Position Overview
    • The WIC Registered Dietitian plays a crucial role in supporting the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) team by delivering essential information to program participants about guidelines, voucher usage, and nutrition education. This role also involves documenting in medical records and ensuring vendor compliance within the WIC program. Under the supervision of a department leader, the dietitian will engage in outreach efforts with various agencies and community organizations.
  • Essential Qualifications
    • Educational Background
      • Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist: must hold a permanent Louisiana Dietitian/Nutritionist License.
      • Bachelor's degree in human nutrition, dietetics, or food and nutrition; must possess RD/Nutritionist license.
    • Professional Experience
      • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in public health nutrition or clinical/hospital dietetics.
      • A Master's degree in human nutrition, dietetics, food systems management, community nutrition, or public health may substitute for one year of required experience.
      • Experience in public health may also be considered as a substitute for one year of the required experience.
      • All academic qualifications must be obtained from an accredited institution.
    • Skills and Competencies
      • Familiarity with WIC certification processes and medical terminology related to nutrition is preferred.
      • Willingness to learn and educate others about basic nutrition and its connection to health, along with an understanding of local dietary habits and community resources.
      • Possesses alertness, analytical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, good memory, concentration, sound judgment, initiative, and patience.
      • Proficient in computer skills and typing.
      • Exhibits excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
      • Maintains a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.
      • Upholds a high standard of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality.
      • Meets all pre-employment criteria for a position at Access Health Louisiana.
  • Physical and Mental Requirements
    • Engages in standing, sitting, walking, and conversing throughout the day.
    • May exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, including pushing and pulling objects.
    • Capable of operating office equipment such as computers, printers, and fax machines.
    • OSHA Category III: Regular duties involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and incumbents are not required to perform emergency care or first aid.
    • Willingness to travel for events and work during evenings and weekends, with reliable transportation.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with Providers, Management, and Support Staff.
    • Requires the capacity to interact with individuals beyond basic instructions and adapt to stressful situations.
