POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Penn State Berks is looking for a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Specialist to support our operations. Key responsibilities include:
  • Utilizing various cleaning and maintenance equipment, including scrubbing machines, vacuums, and hand tools as necessary.
  • Performing floor care tasks such as sweeping, scrubbing, sealing, waxing, and shampooing different types of flooring and furnishings.
  • Changing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and other fixtures as needed.
  • Clearing waste and debris from facilities as required.
  • Relocating furniture, equipment, and supplies, as well as unloading and organizing incoming materials.
  • Cleaning windows, walls, ceilings, and light fixtures to maintain a tidy environment.
  • Assisting with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events across campus.
  • Maintaining outdoor areas by removing debris, raking leaves, and ensuring walkways are clear.
  • Driving a vehicle to transport materials and personnel between work sites.
  • Keeping tools and work areas clean and orderly; reporting any unusual conditions to a supervisor.
  • Managing snow removal and applying anti-skid materials on walkways as necessary.
Job Requirements: Candidates must possess basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, along with the ability to follow instructions. Experience of up to 3 months is preferred.

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., Friday 5:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m.

Days Off: Saturday, Sunday

NOTE: This position requires operating a motor vehicle as part of job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
