Position Overview

The Anatomical Pathology Technologist is responsible for executing clinical laboratory tasks, assessments, and various examinations in accordance with established protocols. This role includes maintaining laboratory equipment and documentation, as well as conducting quality assurance activities that necessitate independent judgment and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts a range of routine and complex laboratory tests and procedures tailored to the specific lab area and individual qualifications. Prepares and analyzes specimens for assessment and communicates findings.
  • Adheres to established quality control protocols, including accurate data recording.
  • Performs regular and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.
  • Diagnoses basic issues with instrumentation, culture media, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, technical challenges, and methodologies.
  • Maintains adequate supplies at the workstation.
  • Ensures compliance with quality control and assurance protocols.
  • Implements Infection Control practices and procedures.
  • Completes related tasks as necessary.
Essential Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be licensed by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or as appropriate to the area of assignment).
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience and/or training specific to the duties outlined above is required.
  • Experience in Histology is highly preferred.
Salary Information
The salary range for this position is $47.45-$58.30/hour. This range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful candidate at the time of this job advertisement and may be subject to future adjustments. Various factors may influence the determination of a team member's base salary, including location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget considerations, and internal equity.
