About the Role:

The Lactation Counselor at Del Sol Medical Center plays a vital role in supporting new mothers and their families by providing expert guidance on breastfeeding and lactation. This position requires a strong understanding of breastfeeding techniques, lactation management, and maternal child health. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with medical staff, patients, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide education and support to lactating mothers and their families on breastfeeding techniques, lactation management, and maternal child health.
  • Consult with medical staff to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Evaluate and manage breastfeeding difficulties, providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Develop and implement lactation education programs for patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Requirements:

  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification.
  • BCLS Certification (within 3 months of hire).
  • Graduate from an accredited associate degree or baccalaureate degree program.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team to ensure quality care.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification.
  • S.T.A.B.L.E course certification.
  • Preferred Certified Breastfeeding Educator certification.
