Job Description

Position Overview:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the Surf Ballroom & Museum, driving our mission to enhance cultural, educational, and entertainment opportunities in North Iowa. This role requires a dynamic and visionary leader with nonprofit experience, strong leadership skills, and a creative vision for all generations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to achieve the organization's mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies, secure grants, and build relationships with donors and sponsors.
  • Oversee financial operations, including budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Act as the public face of the organization, engaging with the community, stakeholders, and media.
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day operations, including staff management, facilities maintenance, and event coordination.
  • Utilize museum management skills to help in oversight of preservation and showcasing of historical artifacts and exhibitions.
  • Develop innovative programs and initiatives that attract and engage a wide range of audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in nonprofit leadership with a strong understanding of governance and best practices.
  • Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting and financial planning.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and securing donations.
  • Experience in managing museum operations and curating exhibitions.
  • Strong public speaking skills and the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience in a related field.
