Animal Husbandry Technician I

Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Animal Husbandry Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of research animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily health observations and monitor the condition of research animals.
  • Provide custodial care, fresh feed and fresh water to animals.
  • Receive animal shipments and complete required documentation.
  • Ensure that areas used for technical procedures are well maintained and supplied.
  • Transport supplies, equipment and animals to and from various locations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Willing to be trained to properly handle all species of animals housed within the department.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in custodial care of animals.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment and/or animals weighing up to 75 pounds using carts with casters.
  • Capable of tolerating a significant amount of standing, bending and walking.
  • May be required to work with biological, chemical and radiation hazards after proper training.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
