The selected candidate will undertake the following key responsibilities:
- Install, repair, maintain, and operate water distribution systems and associated equipment, including water mains, service lines, valves, and hydrants.
- Conduct leak surveys, flow tests, line locations, and water quality assessments.
- Maintain accurate daily records of time and materials utilized.
- Adhere to Veolia and OSHA safety protocols, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing job duties.
- Represent Veolia in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Utilize provided tools and equipment to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Operate company vehicles to travel to various job sites as required.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive emails and access work orders through company-provided mobile devices.
- Acquire knowledge of service and main repair and installation processes, including the replacement and installation of fire hydrants, main valves, sleeves, and clamps.
- Engage in leak repair activities, operating pumps, jackhammers, and generators to ensure timely repairs.
Education and Experience
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proficiency in the use of tools, equipment, fittings, and piping commonly utilized in the water distribution system.
- The ability to read maps and accurately locate valves and service lines for effective shutdowns.
- Capability to learn job setups and ensure work is conducted safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.
- Comprehension of safety regulations, operational procedures, and maintenance guidelines.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, cement work, painting, and plumbing.
Certifications and Licenses
A valid State Driver's License is required. A valid CDL "A" License is advantageous.
Physical Demands
The role requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
