Key Responsibilities:
The Surgical Technologist 2 will exhibit advanced expertise and proficiency in the role of the first scrub. Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques.
  • Exhibiting professional conduct as a healthcare provider.
  • Identifying deviations from expected outcomes and adapting to changes in patient requirements.
  • Possessing in-depth knowledge of anatomy and anticipating necessary instruments for each surgical step.
  • Facilitating the surgical process by foreseeing the surgeon's needs.
  • Keeping the circulating nurse updated on forthcoming patient care requirements.

Position Requirements:
To qualify for this role, candidates must possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program is preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist
  • Surgical Technologist registration is required
  • Eligibility for Surgical Technologist registration via the Commonwealth of Virginia at the time of hire, with completion within 6 months
  • BLS certification from AHA is required
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) via NCCT is preferred
