Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Yard Worker to join our team at LKQ Corporation. As a Yard Worker, you will be responsible for removing parts from cars in our yard, maintaining excellent customer service, and supporting all operational processes and procedures.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Receive labels from the supervisor for parts to be pulled and retrieved from vehicles in the yard.
  • Inspect parts and notify the supervisor of any damage.
  • Stage parts for delivery drivers and operate a forklift or order selector to transport parts in and about the warehouse.
  • Sort and place parts and supplies on racks, shelves, or bins according to a predetermined sequence.
  • Respond to customer counter sales immediately by receiving orders, pulling products, and loading them into the customer vehicle.
  • Verify in-stock positions on products for inside sales staff and classify all returns according to integrity and condition of parts.
  • Check defective parts and enter them into a computer system for vendor return.
  • Sign off on all deleted tickets, explaining the reason.
  • Load trucks according to the delivery schedule and perform a final check-off of parts loaded.
  • Puts wheel cores in the staging area for return to remanufacturing facilities.
  • Maintain orderliness and housekeeping of assigned work areas and comply with established company policies and procedures.
Self-Service Essential Job Duties:
  • Operate a forklift or loader to assist in moving cars from the process to the yard.
  • Clean out debris from cars before they go into the processing area.
  • Pull out batteries to be tested to be resold and bring charged batteries to the retail area.
  • Work with the Loader Operator to stage cars or pull cars in the yard properly.
  • Walk the yard and place debris in the cars being removed from the yard.
  • Dismantle tires.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure all EPA and OSHA regulations are being met.
  • Wear all required PPE and comply with established company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate a forklift and meet medium-level physical exertion requirements, including lifting to 75 pounds frequently.
  • Basic math and reading skills to perform job tasks and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instruction.
  • Work well as part of a team and be willing to work long hours when necessary.
  • Display a positive, helpful demeanor and a commitment to providing the best in customer service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and an office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud. Should not have any lifting restrictions and must not be afraid of heights. Should be able to tolerate high and low temperature levels and occasional inclement driving conditions.
