We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraprofessional Assistant to join our team at Brookwood Junior High School. The successful candidate will provide instructional support to teaching staff, assist with the direct supervision and behavioral management of students, and contribute to the overall academic and social-emotional success of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teaching staff in the instruction, direct supervision, and behavioral management of students, as required.
- Implement lesson plans as designed by teachers, and support the delivery of instruction for assigned students.
- Systematically record and graph data specific to assigned students regarding overall instructional progress, achievement of IEP goals, behavioral incidents, baseline behavior, and other information as required.
- Communicate measurable learning objectives and guide assigned students toward mastery of goals.
- Utilize instructional techniques and appropriate instructional materials as prescribed by classroom teachers.
- Communicate with students about IEP goals regularly, and correct student errors in a positive and timely manner.
- Assist in tracking and completing homework.
- Follow all policies for classroom procedures.
- Complete One-to-One Aide logs on a daily basis, and submit accurate and complete weekly logs on time.
- Implement interventions as prescribed in the treatment plan, including special programs and activities.
- Maintain student supervision at all times, including transition, physical education, and transportation periods.
- Complete incident and/or accident reports within specified time requirements, as needed.
- Attend necessary training sessions associated with individual students, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while working with a diverse and challenging student population.
- Communicate in a professional manner with students, parents, and coworkers.
- Provide positive reinforcement to students using various incentives and rewards, both tangible and social.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the diagnosis of assigned students and any challenges pertaining thereto.
- Foster student motivation through enthusiasm and encouragement, and model behaviors that reflect and reinforce a positive attitude.
- Exhibit flexibility and patience in daily job assignments.
- Experience working with supporting junior high-aged students.
- Experience working with low-incidence special needs children, as well as children on the Autism Spectrum, and children with various disabilities, including physical disabilities, visual and hearing impairments, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, emotional impairments, and mental impairments, in accordance with each student's Individual Education Program.
