Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at UTMB Health. As a Vocational Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in a correctional setting, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including administering medications and treatments, and performing various diagnostic or treatment procedures.
  • Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop and modify patient care plans as needed.
  • Notifies appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status, recognizing patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care.
  • Documents nursing care in all assigned patient records, adhering to internal controls and reporting structures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
  • No experience required, but current BLS-HP certification is required.
  • Will consider recent graduates with temporary permits.
