Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including ultrasound, vascular, and cardiac studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including ultrasound, vascular, and cardiac studies, under the direction of a radiologist.
  • Communicate results of diagnostic examinations to interpreting physicians.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies.
  • Differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information.
  • Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures.
  • Ensure patient safety, mental, and physical comfort.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate.
  • Accurately identify and label images.
  • Maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Document billing codes of procedures performed.
  • Identify equipment performance issues and communicate to appropriate staff.
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to physicians.
Requirements
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 3 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients and caregivers.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to department, facility, and organization policies and protocols.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage simultaneous assignments.
