About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps in Falls Church, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive emergency medicine care to patients in accordance with guidelines established by the American College of Physicians.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical, pediatric, psychiatric, obstetric, surgical, and traumatic disorders.
  • Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including lifesaving cardiac surgery and lesser procedures.
  • Order and interpret laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic tests, and develop treatment regimens.
  • Facilitate patient access to continuing medical care through referrals to other healthcare providers.
  • Render consultative opinions to other physicians and auxiliary health personnel.
  • Maintain health and clinical records in accordance with current regulations and standards.
  • Direct the operation of the Emergency Medical Services, including fellow physicians, nurses, paramedics, paraprofessionals, administrative, and ambulance personnel.
  • Teach and mentor residents, interns, and other medical personnel in emergency medical care.
  • Participate in clinical research and assist and advise residents in their research efforts.
Requirements
  • Must have successfully completed an approved Emergency Medicine residency and be board eligible/certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine.
  • Must possess and maintain a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine and meet credentialing/accreditation requirements of the 59 MDW, JCAHO, HQ AETC, and HQ USAF.
  • Must possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
  • Must be willing to travel by military or commercial aircraft for temporary duty assignments.
