This position entails the essential care of patients following established protocols and guidelines.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides fundamental nursing services for patients who are sub-acute, recovering, or have chronic conditions, and supports a registered nurse in the care of critically ill patients; performs related duties as necessary.
Moreover, the LPN aids a registered nurse in executing orders given by a physician.
This role requires a solid understanding of basic nursing practices, although it does not necessitate the application of professional judgment.
Responsibilities regarding patient care are explicitly assigned and closely monitored by a registered nurse or physician.Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administering personal hygiene and bathing patients.
Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients by making beds and performing other related tasks.
Managing equipment utilized in patient care as instructed.
Assisting with the admission and discharge processes of patients.
Monitoring vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and respiration, and documenting other observations as directed.
Collecting samples and supporting diagnostic procedures under supervision.
Executing uncomplicated therapeutic treatments, including administering enemas, preparing and applying basic dressings, and providing certain medications as per the specific instructions of a physician or registered nurse.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient understanding of nursing techniques and their relevance to medical and surgical practices.
Familiarity with hospital sanitation and hygiene standards.
Capability to implement therapeutic treatments as prescribed.
Ability to comprehend and execute precise detailed oral and written instructions.
Competence in maintaining records and generating reports.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues; good moral character; excellent physical and mental health.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a practical nursing program accredited by the State Education Department of New York.
Licensed Practical Nurse certification in New York State.
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
