Position Overview
The Budget Office within the Shelter and Support Program is tasked with overseeing the financial management of the Agency's Human Service Contract expense budgets. This office encompasses four distinct units: Adult Services, Family Services, Street Homeless Solutions, and Special Projects. Each unit is responsible for managing the Agency's funding allocated to organizations that offer transitional housing solutions for single adults, families with children, and adult family units. Additionally, budgets for outreach programs, safe havens, and drop-in centers are administered through this office.
Role Responsibilities
The Department of Homeless Services is seeking an Associate Staff Analyst to serve as a Budget Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Evaluating fiscal, budgetary, statistical, and other relevant data against control documents to identify discrepancies or variances that require correction.
- Gathering and analyzing statistical and quantitative data utilizing standard methodologies to generate summary descriptive and/or projective results that inform agency decision-making.
- Managing the portfolio associated with new capacity for budgetary contracts.
- Assisting human service providers with budget submissions through various systems including HHS Accelerator, PASSPort, SMS, and New Needs.
- Completing Form 5s and other financial documents necessary for budget administration, new needs, and additional agency budget functions.
- Undertaking any supplementary assignments as required.
Qualifications
1. A master's degree from an accredited institution in fields such as economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies, or a closely related discipline, along with one year of relevant professional experience in areas such as budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal research.
2. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and three years of relevant professional experience in the aforementioned areas.
