Psychiatric Care Specialist

The Chautauqua Center is seeking a skilled Psychotherapist to provide high-quality behavioral health care services to children and adults in an integrated care setting. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care and support to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient care to patients with mental health concerns, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Work independently and as part of a team to deliver patient-centered care, with a focus on prevention and early intervention.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices and patient preferences.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
- Conduct patient histories, physicals, and risk factor assessments, as well as order diagnostic tests and prescribe medications as needed.
- Attend consultations and appointments, providing expert guidance and support to patients and families.
- Document patient data and case presentations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of patient information.
- Develop and deliver healthcare education to patients and families, promoting disease prevention and health promotion.
- Ensure effective communication with other healthcare professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Provide supervision and guidance to psychiatric nurse practitioners or students/interns, as needed.
- Perform psychiatric evaluations for outside organizations, as required.
Requirements:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and registration to practice psychiatry in New York State.
- Five years of ambulatory or public health experience, with a focus on behavioral health care.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are preferred but not required.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs) and other healthcare software.
- Sound judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex healthcare systems.
- Knowledge of medical office practices, procedures, and equipment, as well as problem-oriented record keeping.
- Correct English usage, spelling, and grammar, with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Confidence to communicate and outreach to other community healthcare organizations and personnel, promoting collaboration and partnerships.
- Knowledge of community resources and services, with the ability to connect patients with relevant support and care.
- Nurse practitioner registration in New York State, with an unrestricted, current, complete, and active license.
