Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced High School Boys Soccer Coach to join our team at Birmingham City Schools. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for organizing, coordinating, and promoting a comprehensive sports program that meets the needs and interests of our district and community.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a supplemental salary schedule job with 187 duty days.

About the Role

As a High School Boys Soccer Coach, you will be responsible for:

  • Instructing students and managing their behavior during practice sessions and games;
  • Developing and implementing coaching strategies to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship;
  • Working with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes;
  • Evaluating students' athletic abilities and making recommendations for improvement;
  • Taking all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities;
  • Ensuring compliance with all AHSAA rules and regulations;
  • Monitoring and enforcing student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation;
  • Working with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements for all athletic activities;
  • Developing and coordinating a continuing evaluation of the coaching program and making changes based on findings;
  • Accompanying and supervising student athletes during athletic competitions on out-of-town trips;
  • Advising students on NCAA regulations regarding academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of three to five years of coaching experience;
  • A Coaching Principles Certificate (NFHS or ASEP);
  • A Sports First Aid Health & Safety for Coaches Certificate (ASEP or PREPARE);
  • A complete coaches' portion of NFHS Sportsmanship Course; and
  • An active CPR certification with AED Training.
