Job Summary

Ochsner LSU Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team in the Radiation Therapy Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing radiation physics support for the treatment of patients with cancer and other diseases requiring radiation therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in patient treatment planning and review performance improvement records
  • Assist with the preparation of special procedures, including radioactive implants, stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiation therapy
  • Verify patient dose delivery by performing electronic and paper chart QA checks of calculations and treatment plans
  • Participate in QA programs for radiation-producing machines and assist with equipment maintenance and repair
  • Perform patient-specific dose measurements and consult with dosimetrists, therapists, and staff as needed
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, or related field
  • 2 years of experience in clinical medical physics, with documented experience in a clinical CT environment
  • Board Eligible in therapeutic radiological physics by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in medical physics, radiological physics, or related field
  • Certification in therapeutic radiological physics by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics
