Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities:
* Provide direct patient care in a psychiatric setting, working closely with patients and their families.
* Administer medications and monitor their effects, including psychopharmacology.
* Perform specialized procedures such as gastric lavage and airway management when necessary.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
* Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the appropriate course of care for patients with special needs.
* Assist with utilization management to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
* Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
* Coordinate care with other departments, such as laboratory, medical imaging, sterile processing, and specimen collection processing.
* Provide dementia care for patients with cognitive impairments.
Ideal Candidate:
* Two (2+) years as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience with mental health assessment, diagnosis, triage, managing common psychiatric medication and treatment plans, and managing crisis situations.
* Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia.
* Experience working with Athena (EHR) preferred
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
* Understanding of utilization management principles to optimize patient care.
