2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

OR

POSITION SUMMARY

The CMM Programmer is responsible for operating Coordinate Measuring Machines to assess the dimensions of automotive components, inspection fixtures, and machine jigs through the following tasks:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret blueprints to ascertain dimensions and tolerance specifications according to GD&T.
  • Utilize measurement tools and equipment effectively.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished components to ensure compliance with specifications, using instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Visualize and calculate dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies based on specifications.
  • Compare recorded measurements with blueprint dimensions and tolerances, notifying relevant personnel of any discrepancies.
  • Conduct detailed part layouts using CMM/Laser Scanner and bench layout techniques.
  • Develop and implement software programs using Polyworks or PC DMIS.
  • Perform test runs with completed tools or dies to confirm that parts meet specifications, making necessary adjustments.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management to fulfill business objectives.
  • Cease production if unsafe parts, actions, or poor-quality conditions are identified.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as directed by the immediate Supervisor and/or Manager, which may extend beyond the duties outlined above.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; technical school graduation is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/GD&T, follow routers, perform basic calculations, and utilize basic hand-held measuring tools.
  • Capability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb for extended periods.
  • Able to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
