Speech Language Pathologist

As a Speech Language Pathologist at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, you will play a vital role in providing rehabilitative services to patients who have reduced communicative or swallow function. Your primary goal will be to improve functional communication and swallow skills, while also providing patient and family education and serving as a resource for community services.
Essential Functions- Deliver quality care by integrating examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention to optimize outcomes.
- Optimize communicative effectiveness by providing individualized therapy sessions.
- Promote a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies and procedures, rules, and regulations governing the environment of care and patient safety.
- Determine and/or facilitate discharge/discontinuation of services by analyzing achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, planning discharge/discontinuation, and providing appropriate home instruction, follow-up, or referral.
- Record patient services by documenting, dating, and authenticating speech therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcomes in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines.
- Bill for specific interventions provided.
- Develop and enhance professional knowledge and skills by participating in continuing education, reviewing professional publications, and providing learning experiences for professional development.
- Contribute to team effort by embracing change to achieve common goals, demonstrating willingness to provide service at other sites as necessary, investigating opportunities for new lines of services, contributing to the development of peers, and promoting a positive work environment.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by understanding and adhering to current standards of practice for speech therapy, guide for professional conduct, including the code of ethics and practice guidelines established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Provide appropriate supervision to speech therapist assistants and students.
- Develop leadership skills by assisting with supervision of staff, serving as mentor to other staff, proposing, investigating, and implementing new methods or problem-solving, assisting with program planning, providing input and information for budget development, providing input to, and/or delivering staff performance appraisals.
- Protect patient information and confidentiality by securing all information in confidential space, following facility confidentiality policy.
- Educate students and volunteers by supervising/providing educational experiences, providing instruction with verbal and written feedback to students and clinical institutions, and arranging educational events with other staff.

- Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech and Hearing Association, and licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- CFY candidates considered as appropriate.
- Related experience as a student or practicing clinician preferred.
