Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - Radiological Care produces high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with established standards and guidelines. This role requires the ability to operate various imaging equipment, including nuclear medicine cameras and computers, to provide accurate and timely results. The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of radiology principles, patient care, and radiation protection.
Responsibilities- Consistently produce high-quality diagnostic images on patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric.
- Follow established protocols for imaging and isotopes dosage, adjusting as necessary for age or disease.
- Operate all Nuclear Medicine cameras, computers, and related equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing workflow.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute, and challenging patients, modifying positioning and scanning factors when standard procedures cannot be performed.
- Possess knowledge of disease processes, image these findings adequately, and communicate them to the radiologist.
- Perform radioactive therapy procedures according to Nuclear Medicine Policies and Procedures and the Radioactive Material License.
- Employ techniques to minimize radiation exposure by adhering to the ALARA program.
- Adhere to radiation safety practices consistently.
- Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association-approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (CNMT) OR Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, post-primary certification in Computed Tomography (ARRT (NM)). If hired prior to 4/13/12 and been performing x-rays since 1987 AND was grandfathered in by the state of Texas, only CMRT required.
- Registered Certificate of Transportation of Hazardous Radioactive Material (HWC)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

The facility is home to St. David's Children's Hospital, St. David's Women's Center of Texas featuring a Level III NICU, a Kidney Transplant Center, and the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery. Additional services offered at this medical center include 24-hour emergency care, heart and vascular care, neurology and neurosurgery, rehabilitation services, and inpatient and outpatient surgery.
Estimated Salary$84,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
