Salary Range:$80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
Job Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Systems Specialist to join our team performing research in the Turbine Research Facility (TRF). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing the facility for testing, including performing expert mechanical work to build-up the rig for testing and tear-down the rig following testing. You will also perform monthly inspections and periodic maintenance on numerous subsystems critical to TRF operation, such as vacuum pumps, hydraulic pumps, and chiller systems. Additionally, you will play a critical role as a member of the team executing tests.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
General working knowledge of turbine engines is desirable. A working knowledge of various subsystems found in commercial/industrial facilities (e.g., pumps, chillers, etc.) is also useful. The ability to work effectively in a small team is vital. You must understand and adhere to safety protocols. Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Experience working hands-on with turbine engines is desirable. Secret clearance is required (can be obtained after starting work). US Citizenship is required. Certification is required in overhead lift/crane operation and forklift operation at a minimum (can be acquired on the job). Knowledge of hazardous materials (HAZMAT), as well as their proper storage and disposal, is helpful.
