About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team at Catholic Health System. As a key member of our Maternal Child Health unit, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive birthing experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate total nursing care for patients in the maternal/fetal unit, assessing health data and analyzing it to determine diagnosis.
  • Develop individualized plans of care that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implement interventions and evaluate patient progress toward outcomes.
  • Provide care to patients, including assessment of maternal and fetal status, assisting providers at vaginal and Caesarean deliveries, and providing indicated interventions during patient complications.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in New York State.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification within one year of assignment.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certified during orientation to the department.
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring validation within one year of assignment.
  • NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification within one year of assignment.
  • Perinatal Surgical Competency (scrub and circulate) within one year of assignment.
  • One year of acute care nursing experience.
  • One year of labor and delivery experience.
Working Conditions

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse performs duties within the Maternal Child units on the Fourth floor of Mercy Hospital. Occasionally, the L&D RN will perform patient assessments in other units of the facility.
