Job Summary

Encore is seeking a skilled Scenic Artist to join our team in the Fabrication Department. As a Scenic Artist, you will be responsible for accurately executing custom designs and detailing on scenic elements to projects. This role requires close collaboration with the fabrication manager, paint supervisor, production manager, and the design-creative team in the layout, painting, texturing, sculpting, and detailing of all hard scenic elements of a project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabrication:
    • Interpret design renderings and callouts.
    • Finish, lacquer, tint, wax, spray finish, brush, etc.
    • Custom mix and match paint.
    • Prime, finish coat, and seal all hard scenic pieces.
    • Sculpt and carve.
    • Touch up, rework, and maintenance on completed projects.
    • Create pounces patterns and stencils.
    • Attend show site installations as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Safety:
    • Follow all applicable OSHA and corporate safety protocols and regulations.
    • Maintain a safe working environment by maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience in scenic artistry, finish painting, and carving or equivalent experience.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with scenic or faux painting techniques and basic carving.
  • Ability to read and interpret working drawings and renderings.
  • Ability to follow directions with scheduled hours.
  • Ability to work both in a collaborative team environment and work independently as the project dictates.
  • Communicate verbally, through computers, apps, and relevant software.
  • Meet tight timelines and strict deadlines.

Work Environment

The Scenic Artist will work in a shop environment with exposure to dirt, sand, dust, and chemicals. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
