Optician Specialist

Job Summary:

Amtec Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Optician to join our team. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting patients with proper frame and lens selection, educating them on various options for clear lenses, sunglasses, and other eye care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with frame and lens selection, ensuring proper fit and measurements.
• Educate patients on various options for clear lenses, sunglasses, and other eye care needs.
• Verify patient insurance and explain their benefits.
• Dispense glasses and ensure patients understand their new prescriptions and lens types.
• Help patients with repairs and adjustments.
• Ensure patient phone calls are returned in a timely manner and patients are informed of any delays with eye-wear purchased.
• Assist with other tasks as needed in the office.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Lab experience in edging, finishing, and surfacing preferred.

• Customer Service - Excellent customer service skills, ensuring each patient interaction exceeds their expectations.
• Sales - Strong relationship building skills with customers and ability to educate patients on their options resulting in successful purchases.
• Team Player - Ability to effectively communicate with fellow co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
• Computer - Knowledge of manufacturing software, payroll systems, spreadsheet software, inventory software, order processing systems, project management software, word processing software, and electronic mail software.
• Language - Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Optical Knowledge - Preferred, but required that the candidate has optical experience.
• Cross-Training - Ability to be flexible with work environment and cross-train with other roles in the office as needed.
