Regional Structural Engineering Leader

DLR Group operates within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home. Our Engineering team has an opening for a Regional Structural Engineering Leader.

Job Summary:

As the Regional Structural Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the design of structural systems for buildings across various sectors, including Higher Education, K-12, Arts & Culture, Justice/Civic, Retail, Hospitality, and Energy. You will lead a regional structural engineering team to produce high-quality construction documents using Revit and manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements. As part of the integrated design team, you will collaborate closely with other disciplines to produce highly integrated building designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage operations, execution, and expectations for the Regional Structural Engineering Discipline in Minneapolis, MN and Chicago, IL.
  • Develop, communicate, and update operations plans to include information such as objectives, schedules, and staffing.
  • Direct or coordinate activities of personnel, vendors, and consultants.
  • Assign duties, responsibilities, and projects to personnel.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and document meetings with staff and clients related to overall operations.
  • Participate in the development and negotiation of contracts as well as service change requests; and initiate, review, or approve modifications to plans.
  • Partner with sector and practice leadership to perform all personnel functions such as selection, training, and evaluation of personnel.
  • Support business development initiatives by assisting the RFP process and interview process.
  • Actively engage in community and/or industry-specific organizations to build the DLR Group brand.
  • Maintain industry-leading workplace practices to drive operating unit and culture towards a great place to work status.
  • Properly balance staffing and workload to achieve profit and revenue growth goals.
  • Develop structural designs from concept through completion of construction.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
  • Coordinate structural design requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Structural Engineer.
  • Prior experience leading teams of engineers.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer designing structural building systems on complex projects.
