Histopathology Specialist

**Responsibilities:**
* Performs duties within the scope of the Histopathology Tech professional certification.
* Collects adequate and properly labeled specimens.
* Determines current clinician orders in the computer, per Laboratory procedures.
* Processes specimens for testing and/or shipment to another laboratory for testing.
* Maintains and ensures cleanliness of adequate stock of supplies and rotates stock as needed to ensure supplies are used according to expiration dates.
* Receives specimens and accompanying request forms for any of the tests that can be performed, and checks each for proper identification.
* Communicates the daily status and problems about the laboratory output to team members and senior management of the service.
**Requirements:**
* Education: A baccalaureate degree and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnolgist program.
* Certification: Certification by ASCP as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histopathology Technician (HT).
