Oral Surgery Dental Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oral Surgery Dental Assistant to join our team at MAX Surgical Specialty Management in Edison, NJ.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparing the Treatment Room: Ensure the treatment room is clean, organized, and equipped with the necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Sterilizing and Maintaining Surgical Instruments: Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments according to infection control guidelines.
  • Assisting with Oral Surgery Procedures: Prepare patients for oral surgery, explaining the procedure and addressing any concerns they may have.
  • Monitoring Patients' Vital Signs: Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort level during surgery, ensuring their well-being at all times.
  • Handling and Disposing of Surgical Waste: Handle and dispose of surgical waste and hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols.
Support and Education:
  • Providing Post-Operative Care Instructions: Provide post-operative care instructions to patients, including oral hygiene practices, medication administration, and dietary restrictions.
  • Answering Patients' Questions: Answer patients' questions and concerns, offering reassurance and empathy throughout their treatment process.
  • Maintaining Accurate Patient Records: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatment plans, procedures, and progress.
Administrative Duties:
  • Scheduling Patient Appointments: Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with other dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Managing Patient Records: Manage patient records, update medical histories, and handle billing and insurance with inventory management, ordering dental supplies, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assisting program is highly preferred. Valid X-Ray License is highly preferred. Previous experience as a dental assistant, particularly in oral surgery, is highly desirable.
