Under the supervision of a department leader, the Dietitian will engage in outreach efforts with various agencies and community organizations.
  • Essential Qualifications
    • Educational Background
      • Must be a Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist with a valid Louisiana Dietitian/Nutritionist License.
      • A Bachelor's degree in human nutrition, dietetics, or food and nutrition is required, along with the necessary RD/Nutritionist license.
    • Professional Experience
      • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in public health nutrition, clinical dietetics, or hospital dietetics is required.
      • A Master's degree in relevant fields such as human nutrition, dietetics, or public health may substitute for one year of required experience.
      • Experience in public health can also be considered as a substitute for one year of the required experience.
      • All educational qualifications must be obtained from accredited institutions.
    • Skills and Competencies
      • Familiarity with WIC certification processes and medical terminology related to nutrition is preferred.
      • A strong willingness to learn and impart knowledge about basic nutrition and its impact on health, along with an understanding of local dietary habits and community resources.
      • Possesses analytical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and excellent memory and concentration.
      • Demonstrates strong computer skills and typing proficiency.
      • Exhibits outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
      • Maintains a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.
      • Adheres to high ethical standards in maintaining patient confidentiality.
      • Must have fulfilled all pre-employment requirements for Access Health Louisiana.
  • Physical and Mental Demands
    • Regularly stands, sits, walks, and engages in conversation throughout the day.
    • May exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, including pushing and pulling objects.
    • Capable of operating standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and fax machines.
    • OSHA Category III: Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and incumbents are not required to perform emergency care or first aid.
    • Willingness to travel for events and work during evenings or weekends, with reliable transportation.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with Providers, Management, and Support Staff.
    • Requires adaptability to perform under stress and interact with individuals in high-stress situations.
