We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist to join our team at Collins Aerospace in Chula Vista, CA. As a Machinist, you will play a critical role in the production of complex aerospace hardware, working with manual and CNC machine shop equipment to machine parts to precise tolerances.
Key Responsibilities- Setup and Operation of Machine Shop Equipment: You will be responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, saws, and hones, to machine a wide variety of aerospace hardware.
- Planning and Sequencing of Operations: You will plan the sequence of progressive operations by working from blueprints, sketches, and other authorized documents, determining the sequence of operations to minimize the amount of machining and number of set-ups required.
- Tooling and Machining Aids: You will set up machines to perform any operation within its capability by positioning, aligning, and securing work, improvising and adapting existing tooling and other machining aids.
- Quality Control and Assurance: You will determine, set, and adjust feeds, speeds, depths, and stops, and perform minor oiling as necessary, to ensure that parts are machined to precise tolerances.
- Education and Experience: You must have an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant machining experience, or a HS diploma, GED, and 6 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. Person or Eligible to Obtain Necessary Export Authorizations: You must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.
- Experience with Machinist's Hand Tools and Precision Measuring Instruments: You must have experience with machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Experience Troubleshooting and Setting Up New Part Programs: You should have experience troubleshooting and setting up new part programs.
- Proficient in Manual G-Code Programming and CAM Software: You should be proficient in manual G-Code programming and CAM software, with certifications a plus.
- Experience with 4-Axis Milling: You should have experience with 4-axis milling.
