Position Summary
The Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and analysis of advanced laser systems, robotics, and associated tooling. This position requires a deep understanding of opto-mechanical design principles, focusing on precision mechanisms, kinematics, and thermal management.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize computer-aided engineering tools to execute design and analysis tasks independently while providing regular updates on progress.
- Design, develop, and document precision opto-mechanical assemblies, ensuring robust performance under various conditions.
- Conduct engineering analyses to assess the impact of loads and environmental factors on system performance, employing tools such as CAD and FEA.
- Set up optical metrology systems and perform engineering tests to validate design concepts.
- Engage in laser packaging design and process development, including soldering and hermeticity testing.
- Participate in the initial assembly and testing of engineering prototypes.
- Conduct hands-on prototyping and troubleshooting to ensure design intent is met.
- Oversee the development of automated optical alignment processes.
- Support root cause analysis for product failures and contribute to design reviews.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in opto-mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in optical modeling software, with Zemax experience preferred.
- Familiarity with CAD software, particularly Solidworks, and FEA tools such as ANSYS.
- Experience with various fiber types, including multimode and single mode.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply engineering principles to solve complex problems.
