Job Summary

Dahl Memorial Healthcare seeks a skilled and dedicated Dietary Manager to oversee dietary employees and ensure that dietary standards are consistently met.

This role is crucial in leading and managing a team of employees to provide nutritious and well-prepared meals to our patients, staff, and visitors.

Education and Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, or a related field (preferred)
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) (preferred or must be obtained within a specified time frame after hire)
  • ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety certification (required or must be obtained within a specified time after hire)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in food service management in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital, long-term care facility, or similar environment
  • Experience managing a team of kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling
  • Experience with menu planning and nutritional analysis to meet patient dietary requirements, including specialized diets

Skills:

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, including:
    • HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) standards for identifying and controlling food safety hazards throughout the food production process
    • The Joint Commission (TJC) Standards, which include guidelines for dietary services, food safety, and nutritional assessments in hospitals
    • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Guidelines, which outline regulations for food and nutrition services in hospitals, emphasizing patient safety and dietary compliance
    • State and Local Health Department Regulations, which set specific requirements for food service operations within healthcare facilities
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, including the ability to manage staff, inventory, and budgets
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, patients, and other healthcare providers
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with dietary management software, Microsoft Office, and inventory management systems
