Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Officer to join our team at Safety Consulting & Compliance Corp. for a five-year project replacing highway retaining walls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Task-Specific Safe Work Plans (SWPs) and conduct Toolbox Talks to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Implement the Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local safety and health regulations.
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings with the workforce and management to promote a culture of safety.
  • Lead incident investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills to effectively collaborate with the team.
  • Be independent, reliable, and dependable to ensure the project's success.
  • Demonstrate ability to use Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to track project progress.
  • Display willingness to learn and participate in company-wide systems for project tracking and communication.

Requirements:

  • Heavy highway, trench, and excavation experience, as well as experience working on EPA Brownfield sites with legacy trace metals and chemicals.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training.
  • 8-hour HAZWOPER supervisory training and one year of experience in personal and respiratory protective equipment program implementation.
  • Experience with air monitoring instruments, air sampling methods, and procedures.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR by a recognized organization.
  • Occupational physical exam and OSHA Construction 30-hour card within the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active membership in ASSP (American Society of Safety Professionals).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
